How to read this listWhat each kind of item is worth
A paper in an indexed journal
Peer-reviewed and permanently citable; four of these carry PubMed identifiers and four are indexed on KCI. Two were published with an invited discussion, which means an editor asked an independent surgeon to comment on the work in print — the closest thing to a third party's judgement that exists in this field.
A congress presentation
Reviewed by a scientific committee and argued in front of colleagues, but not the same as a peer-reviewed paper, and it is not presented here as one. Its value is the date: it shows when a method was first put to other surgeons, and the 2001 presentation is two years earlier than the 2003 paper.
A textbook chapter
Not the author's own claim. An editor of an American textbook chose to include the technique and to name it after the surgeon who developed it, which is a judgement made outside this clinic.
A thesis
Examined work submitted for a degree — biochemistry for the master's, telomere biology for the doctorate. Neither is about facial surgery, and they are listed because a record given whole is worth more than a record curated for effect.
